Man charged with terroristic threatening after firing BB gun at cars near elementary school

HOOKENA (HawaiiNewsNow) – Hawaii Island police officers charged a man with terroristic threatening after allegedly firing a BB gun at cars near Hookena Elementary School on Friday morning, according to Hawaii Island police officials.
Officials say officers were called out to an area of Mamalahoa Highway just before 7 a.m. near the school.
The school was put into lockdown after employees reportedly saw armed 38-year-old Warren Cho Jr. of Captain Cook staring into the schoolyard where students were playing, officials say.
Hawaii Police Department also received multiple calls that the man was shooting at cars as they passed by.
Police disarmed the man and took him into custody.
He now faces two counts of terroristic threatening.
No injuries were reported.
His bail was set at $5,000.
